Day 023: What Isn’t There

image

Yep, natuloy ang lakad ko kanina. Please see my post last Day 021: Tara Manood. Sa wakas, napanood ko din ang “Ang Nawawala” (What Isn’t There) kanina sa Fully Booked, Fort Bonifacio branch. Second day kanina ng Rescue Cinema kung saan iba’t ibang indie movies ang ipinapalabas FOR FREE. But not actually free siya. Because you are encouraged to make a donation for the benefit of Yolanda victims. Kita mo yun!

Well kung ano man sasabihin ko dito ngayon, please do not consider this as a legitimate review. In other words, wag mo ko paniwalaan. Hindi naman dahil sa nagsisinungaling ako. Ano kasi, ganito… Wala akong masyadong alam in terms of movie making chorvah. Basta this is just going to be about what I felt while watching the movie. Personal views kumbaga.

So eto na. Enumeration ang peg. Pasensya.

1. Si Gibson, siya yung bida. He’s not mute. He’s not deaf. He just wouldn’t talk. And I feel him. So much. Dahil ganun din ako. Dati. Mahiyain kasi ako. But Gibson is not mahiyain, may pinagdadaanan lang siyang traumatic experience nung bata pa. And from that day on, he stopped talking. Gibson made me cry. Oh my gosh, number 2 na.

2. Gibson’ s mother. Gosh, I hate her. She’s a bitch.

3. Gibson’s father. Yeah, he’s such a cool dad. I love him. Napaka-cheerful kahit na alam niyang may problema sa pamilya niya.

4. Teddy (Gibson’s friend). Cute ng character niya. A funny friend. Seryoso yung movie.

5. Enid. Ah another bitch. Bakit?! Tapos in the end, ganun lang yun? Naalala ko tuloy yung 500 days of summer. Tsk.

6. Their dysfunctional family. Nakaka-depress. Haha.

7. May pagka-retro style. Maganda. Nakadagdag ng bigat sa istorya.

8. Beautiful soundtrack. Astig!

9. Bagay talaga kay Dominic Roco yung role nya as Gibson. Feels like he was owning the character.

10. Last na nga to, pramis. He’s not pathetic. He’s so pure. Tinanggap niya lahat.

11. Isa pa pala. Favorite scene ko yung bandang last na. That heartbreaking scene sa cemetery with his twin brother. That wordless goodbye with each puff of smoke. But then, kaylangan niya ring lisanin ang nakaraan para maka-move on siya. He has to.

In summary, para sa akin, it’s about how to reclaim one’s self, making others realize that you deserve to live and be loved. It’s about acceptance and forgiveness. Letting go of the past and moving on.

Yun na lang muna. Ciao.

(About the picture: At the end of the movie, my Q & A portion with the director and the Roco twins. Cute nila. Hihihi.)
